It's ironic that Square Enix saw Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy as a disappointment when it's the sort of one-off AAA game that could've helped with its financial woes.

Released in 2021 and developed by Eidos-Montréal, this single-player game has been widely praised for its immersive dialog, story, and fantastic soundtrack. However, despite these accolades, it didn't quite meet Square Enix's massive sales expectations.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy takes players on an adventure set 12 years after the Galactic War. As the leader of the quirky and beloved group, players step into the boots of Star-Lord, navigating the team through various intergalactic challenges. Each character in the game offers unique combat abilities, with Rocket being an explosive specialist, Groot providing defensive support, Drax serving as a tank, and Gamora excelling in precision swordplay. The game's combat is supplemented by the Huddle feature, where players can choose tracks from Star-Lord's cassette player to motivate the team, reflecting his love for 80s music.
