After a relatively brief search, Marvel Studios has found a new director and writer for Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming reboot of Blade.
According to Deadline, Lovecraft Country pilot director, Yann Demange, has been signed to helm Marvel's Blade with When They See Us writer, Michael Starrbury, tapped to pen the film's screenplay.
Unfortunately, the report didn't contain further details about when the cameras for the new Blade movie will start rolling. But, now that a director and writer are in tow, we shouldn't have to wait too long to find out more details about the Blade reboot movie.
Bringing Demange and Starrbury onto the MCU is a sign that Marvel Studios is open for a darker and grittier take on the franchise. There's little doubt that Kevin Feige considered the success of the MCU TV shows, Werewolf by Night and Moon Knight. However, by effectively rebooting the upcoming reboot, Marvel will have to start from scratch. This was perhaps the main reason for the delay of Blade from November 3 next year to September 9, 2024, which also forced Marvel to shuffle the schedules of other Phase 5 movies.
