Hawkeye on Disney+ premieres with 2 episodes

With the series only having 6 episodes scheduled, it does imply that the remaining four episodes will be released coinciding with the final episode to be targeted for a Christmas release. Mrs. Hawkeye Returns and new details Titled "Change of Plans", the second Hawkeye trailer has some interesting tidbits.

The new trailer opens with Clint speaking with his family and promising this Christmas to be the best one ever. It then leads to Clint recounting the events of bringing his kids to see the Rogers musical (the humorous homage to Captain America and the Avengers as a Broadway production) to Kate Bishop, and how his holiday vacation plans were derailed by the attempts on their lives by the Tracksuit Draculas.

The trailer has quick cuts to other locales and incidences during Clint and Kate's adventure. There is even a medieval sort of live action roleplaying that Clint participates in, although the details of what this is about and how it connects to the plot remains unknown. Throughout the sequence and the rest of the trailer, Andy Williams's It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year reverberates in an almost ironic way.

One of the key scenes not in the previous trailer is Laura Cardellini reprising her role as Laura Barton. The actress last appeared in Avengers: Endgame after the final battle with Thanos. In the new Hawkeye trailer, she asks Clint over the phone if he needs more time to spend in New York in order to finish whatever the case he and Kate are doing.

Cardellini's absence from the previous teaser left some fans wondering whether she was going to be completely absent from the episodes or at worst, recast. Fans will be relieved to know that Cardellini is returning for at least one episode.

We also see Kate getting to use Clint's trick arrows. With the regular arrows running out during a chase sequence, Kate is forced to use Clint's stock of gadget-laden ammunition. This is what led to the funny scene of Kate exclaiming about Hawkeye having even more dangerous arrows than the explosive ones. Missing MCU connections But as much as the new trailer reveals, it also keeps other details unspoken. Rumors of Florence Pugh's appearance as an antagonist have swirled since the Black Widow movie ended with her Yelena Belova being recruited by Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). However, no scenes of her have been shown in the trailer as of yet.

Another consistent rumor is that Vincent D'Onofrio would be making his MCU debut in Hawkeye as the Kingpin. D'Onofrio's depiction in the Netflix show Daredevil was a fan favorite and one of the highlights of that series. Since Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has stated that some of the stories and characters from the Netflix Marvel series would be transitioning to the Disney stable, D'Onofrio's Kingpin was high on fans' wishlists. The new trailer does not give any confirmation that D'Onofrio will be appearing.

As Hawkeye is the last Disney+ Marvel Phase Four exclusive series that will be shown for the 2021, anticipation is particularly high. These expectations are further fueled by the success of the previous ones released, such as WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki (as well as the critically acclaimed animated series What If…?).

With the aforementioned series exploring more of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what new areas will Hawkeye open up? And how far will the repercussions be? Will they be as far-reaching as the true birth of the Scarlet Witch or Loki causing the disruption of the Sacred Timeline? Perhaps more hints leading to the rest of the Young Avengers? We'll have to wait for November to find out.
