Loki Season 2 notches four nominations at Critics Choice Awards 2024

The Disney+ show also scored a nomination in the ultimate category of the awards event – Best Drama Series. Loki has received both audience and critical acclaim over its two seasons. So, its Critics Choice Awards nominations are hardly a surprise. If anything, the show is expected to notch even more nominations when the awards season fully rolls in.

Loki is undoubtedly one of the MCU's better shows and Hiddleston's portrayal of the character has endeared him to audiences all over. For many viewers, it's been especially fulfilling to watch the character grow from being selfish and mischievous to being invested in saving time and, by extension, the multiverse.

At the end of Loki Season 2, the character destroys the Temporal Loom thus committing himself to supervising the different timelines that exist at the End of Time. The final episode seemingly concludes his chapter in the MCU and comments from Hiddleston himself and head writer Eric Martin hint at this.

Nevertheless, there is a chance the character can still feature in the universe in the future, especially in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars. Given Loki's entanglement with time and his encounters with He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror – the villain of the Avengers movies, his appearance in the Avengers movies make sense.

This theory is even more plausible given Michael Waldron, who created Loki, serves as head writer for the Avengers movies with Martin, the head writer for Loki Season 2, also on the writers' team.

In the meantime, MCU fans can look forward to What If…? Season 2, which is set to arrive later this December.
