Logan Paul, a controversial figure that has as many adjectives as Tony Stark does in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has taken one off his laundry list of epithets. After effectively kickstarting a new subgenre of professional boxing, where a YouTuber joins the sweet science in hopes of glory and, of course money, is now making a significant career shift. The former YouTuber, who ventured into the boxing ring and emerged as a notable presence with four career fights, which includes an exhibition match against Floyd Mayweather Jr., has decided to pivot his focus. Despite a controversial but victorious match against MMA fighter Dillon Dannis last month, Paul is now hanging up his boxing gloves for a different kind of ring.
In a recent interview with Fox Business, Paul candidly revealed his plans to concentrate on becoming a full-time wrestler with WWE, stating, “Yeah, I think I’ve retired from boxing,” and humorously claiming an exaggerated undefeated record in his boxing career.
Paul’s decision to leave boxing behind stems from his belief that “there’s no more money in boxing. Every company’s going broke.” This statement reflects his perception of the current state of the boxing industry and suggests a strategic move towards a more financially promising and stable career in wrestling, specifically the WWE, which recently merged with the UFC. Although his entry into the WWE hasn’t always gone well with fans, it’s difficult if not impossible to deny that his skills as a natural athlete and entertainer have found a suitable platform in the sports entertainment industry.

In his short tenure in WWE, Logan Paul has already made significant strides. Most recently, Paul defeated the legendary luchador, Rey Mysterio, at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia and becoming the new United States champion. But, it wasn’t a clean win. Paul resorted to using brass knuckles to knock out the masked wrestlers and pin the former champ, which is illegal in the WWE.
Despite this, Paul’s performance in the ring has been nothing short of impressive. He managed to “rescue” his opponent from what could’ve been a serious injury during a moonsault, showcasing his excellent instincts and adaptability in the wrestling environment.
Paul’s ambition in WWE doesn’t stop at being the United States champion, however. In a video with his younger brother, Jake Paul, he expressed his willingness to take on any challengers, including high-profile wrestlers like Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, or even facing two former tag team champions simultaneously. His confidence and enthusiasm for WWE are evident, and it seems he is ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that come with being even more of a target than he already was before becoming a champion.
Paul’s transition from boxing to wrestling isn’t just a career change; it’s a strategic move aligning with his entertainment skills and business acumen. His successful switch to professional wrestling could be attributed to his ability to engage audiences and create buzz, regardless of the platform or industry.
The WWE universe can expect to see more of Paul in the coming months, especially with the Survivor Series: WarGames event on the horizon and the build-up to WrestleMania, WWE’s biggest show of the year.
Whether he’s loved or loathed by fans, one thing is certain: Logan Paul knows how to keep audiences engaged, and he’s likely to continue doing so in the WWE.
But, this decision does put a sock on his dreams of holding championship gold in every sport he’s in.
