Lance Reddick was a distinguished actor with roles in everything from blockbuster movies and popular TV shows as well as video games. On March 17, news broke that the actor had died of natural causes at his Los Angeles home, which saddened fans all over the globe.
Since then, colleagues, friends, and fans have paid tribute to the actor that provided several memorable performances in the John Wick films franchise, The Wire television series, and the Destiny video game franchise.
Now, a few weeks after his death, Bungie, the developers of the early Halo games and the Destiny franchise, has announced that the actor's character, Commander Zavala, will continue to appear in the game, saying: As an actor, musician, gamer, and family man, the passion Lance brought to the things he loved was reflected in the eyes and hearts of all who loved him. For now, we will honor his presence through his performances yet to come in the game, and in the memories that will last us a lifetime. Bungie's statement suggests that Reddick voiced more lines for the character for use in future content patches. Apart from the seasonal content that are on the way, Destiny 2 has one last major expansion left that is slated to arrive sometime in 2024. There is no telling how far ahead Reddick's existing voice work is but fans will be hoping there is enough for his arc in the game.
