For the third straight year, Kylian Mbappe will appear on the cover of a FIFA game. The PSG superstar forward was also the cover star of FIFA 21 and 22. In addition to Mbappe, Chelsea Forward, Sam Kerr, will also be on the cover of FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition.
Mbappe, who is just 23 years old, is widely considered one of the best and brightest young stars in soccer. Mbappe started 34 times in 35 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG last year where he tallied 28 goals and 17 assists, helping lead the Parisiens to its eighth league title in 10 tries.
Meanwhile, Kerr makes an even more historic debut for FIFA 23. The footballer is the first female to appear on a global cover of FIFA. USMNT's Alex Morgan appeared previously in 2016 but it was exclusive to the United States. In the same year, Christine Sinclair and Stephanie Catley were featured in Canada and Australia, respectively.
Both Mbappe and Kerr are well deserving of appearing as the cover athletes for the most expensive edition of FIFA 23. The former helped lead France to its second World Cup title in 2018 when he was just barely out of his teens. As for Kerr, the 28-year-old won the Golden Boot for the second straight time last year and helped Chelsia win a WSL title for the third consecutive time as well as a FA Cup-WSL double for the second straight year. Kerr is also the all-time leading scorer for Australia with 59 goals.
