Konami's Metal Gear franchise is one of the industry's most influential video games. But, after the nasty divorce with Hideo Kojima in 2015 and a failed attempt to try and capitalize on the IP's popularity with 2018's Metal Gear Survive, Konami got the message and backed off the series. Now, it appears that Konami is ready to give Metal Gear another shot.

Konami's Tokyo Game Show lineup will include an unannounced game that is a new entry in a "world-beloved series." Several sources have since claimed that this is not related to Metal Gear. However, most credible leakers are also saying that they can't rule out Konami's other plans for the event, specifically, remasters of older games.

The most obvious guesses are Castlevania and Silent Hill, especially after what Christopher Gans, the director of the first Silent Hill movie, revealed in an interview in June.

Konami Might Announce Metal Gear Solid Remasters At The Tokyo Game Show

Andy Robinson, who is the editor of Video Games Chronicle, corroborated these reports. In a statement on Twitter, Robinson explained that the upcoming reveal at TGS will be "related to a smaller project," adding that Konami has "larger planned revivals for Castlevania, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid." Robinson clarified that he is under the impression that Konami is more likely to announce the aforementioned projects at a "more global-focused event" as he cited showcases like PlayStation's State of Play and Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards as examples.
