The thrilling world of Metal Gear, a stealth-action staple in the gaming community, is ripe with twists and turns, but fans might have uncovered one of them way before the official reveal.
A potential leak on the official Metal Gear Solid website might have revealed the next chapters in the saga — Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid V, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker — all likely contenders for the still-unannounced Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2.
This virtual treasure, which Twitter user Nitroid discovered, was found by inspecting the Metal Gear Solid timeline page on the website shows placeholder buttons for these titles.
The new Metal Gear Solid website added buttons to the timeline for the games in Master Collection Vol. 1, but if you inspect the page, there are placeholder buttons for MGS4, Peace Walker, and MGSV as well.

In a world where the ordinary often camouflages the extraordinary, it takes the keen eye of a true sleuth to unveil secrets that could change the gaming landscape. Or at least, offer fans a sneak peek into the imminent future. And, while all the buttons don’t necessarily confirm the inclusion of the said titles, the timing of the discovery lines up with the most recent Nintendo Direct announcement that brings Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 to the Nintendo Switch.
Of course, as all good agents know, nothing is confirmed until the mission debriefing — or in this particular case, an official announcement.
The obvious highlight is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has since been imprisoned and locked away on the PlayStation 3 since its release in 2008.
Much like how The Big Boss, and later on, Solid Snake, whisked away prisoners and brought them liberation, throughout the franchise, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 could finally bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to a wider audience.
If true, players could soon step into the war-torn boots of Old Snake and revisit Shadow Moses on platforms such as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, PC, and the Nintendo Switch, for the first time ever.
Mind you, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, aren’t slouches, by any means. The former first launched in 2010 for the PlayStation Portable and was part of the original Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. On the other hand, the latter is the unforgettable swan song of Hideo Kojima before he departed Konami in 2015.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 in October, which comes with franchise stalwarts such as Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and more.
Hopefully, by then, we’ll get a Codec frequency for the official release date of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 as well.
Speaking of Metal Gear, a bunch of recent news can take audiences on a trip down Metal Gear lane. Case in point, did you know that Metal Gear Solid 4 was originally planned for the Xbox 360 but was limited due to the technology of its time? Finally, there was a time when Kojima could’ve left Konami much earlier due to a national tragedy.
