The first two Jurassic World films have had genetically modified dinosaurs serve as the "final boss."
The first one saw the Indominus Rex wreak havoc on Isla Nubar, eventually leading to the closure of the said island. In the follow-up film, BD Wong's Dr. Henry Wu came up with another monstrosity known as the Indoraptor, which is much more raptor-like in size but just as deadly and vicious. As it turns out, the third film, Jurassic World: Dominion, will have the Giganotosaurus.
According to Empire, Colin Trevorrow, who will reprise his role as the third film's director, the Giganotosaurus will have a similar mindset to the iconic Batman supervillain, the Joker. Specifically, Trevorrow describes the Giganotosaurus as something that "just wants to watch the world burn."
What sets the Giganotosaurus apart from the Indominus Rex and Indoraptor is that it is based on a real dinosaur. Unlike the genetically modified antagonists of the Jurassic World films, the ancient reptile actually roamed the earth several millennia ago. Experts claim that the Giganotosaurus was one of the largest predators ever to roam the Earth as it was much heavier, longer, and more powerful than even the Tyrannosaurus rex, tipping the scales at up to 17,600 pounds.
