Jon Favreau's Mando film is now official and the best part is that it will begin production later this year.

The upcoming Star Wars movie marks Disney's first movie set in the galaxy far, far away that will enter production since 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which, if you didn't know, is actually getting a sequel that the director seems pretty excited about.

Given Favreau's successful track record within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars Universe, among others, the fans are right to have high expectations for this project.

Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm, and Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm's chief creative officer, are set to produce the feature, which is separate from Filoni's own "crossover" film. This collaboration between these prominent figures in the Star Wars franchise promises an engaging and innovative addition to the series. The film will delve into the journey of the Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, and his apprentice, Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda, a character who has become a cultural phenomenon since the series' debut in 2019.
