John Carpenter still wants to do a Dead Space movie

The legendary horror film director says that a Dead Space adaptation would be a "real great movie".

John Carpenter Still Wants Dead Space Movie
A Dead Space film could be John Carpenter's first project in over a decade.

As more video games make their way to the silver screen, fans are starting to look forward to their dream adaptations. But, as it turns out, it’s not just the casual gamer who’d like to see their favorite come to life as a movie.

According to the legendary horror filmmaker, John Carpenter, he’d like to do a Dead Space movie if he had the chance.

Carpenter’s penchant for horror, action, and sci-fi, makes him the ideal candidate to helm a live-action adaptation of Dead Space. The best part is that the Halloween creator is open to it. In fact, Carpenter has singled out Dead Space several times before, so he’s clearly had a chance to brainstorm some ideas over the years.

Carpenter made the revelation in a recent AV Club interview where he shared his thoughts about the sci-fi horror trilogy, describing it as “ready-made” for a movie. He added that he loved the game that “nobody else liked”, which is Dead Space 3. In addition to his love for Dead Space, Carpenter also took this time to list some of his favorite video games.

John Carpenter Still Wants Dead Space Movie
Dead Space is widely considered as the Resident Evil of the space horror genre.

Apparently, Carpenter isn’t much for the hate bandwagon after admitting that Bethesda’s Fallout 76 is one of his favorite video games and that he’s spent “too many hours” playing the much-maligned game.

Carpenter hasn’t directed anything in years but that shouldn’t stop him or Electronic Arts from rolling the dice. If nothing else, a Dead Space movie could work in tandem with the remake, which is coming out in January.
