Is Harrison Ford retiring from acting or just the Indiana Jones franchise?

Ford first starred in the Indiana Jones franchise in 1981. More than four decades later, he's reprising his biggest role in the franchise's fifth installment, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which is slated for release this coming Friday.

Apart from his desire to remain active, the Han Solo actor revealed that working with other people and how naturally acting comes to him are other reasons he doesn't want to retire.

Harrison explains the reasoning behind his decision not to fully retire from acting: It is the people you get to work with. The intensity and the intimacy of collaboration. It's the combined ambition somehow forged from words on a page. I don't plan what I want to do in a scene. I don't feel obliged to do anything. I'm naturally affected by things that I work on. To fans of Ford's work, his words will come as a relief, especially since he plays a central character in two of many people's favorite shows – Shrinking, by Apple TV+, and 1923, by Paramount.

Ford's performance in both of these shows has been nothing short of impressive, and they just wouldn't be the same again if he were to exit, as would be the case if he were retiring. Fortunately, he isn't, and audiences will continue to enjoy his depiction of these characters for some time to come.

Apart from these two, Ford also recently signed on to play General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, the president of the United States, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first appearance as the character will come in Captain America: Brave New World, which is slated for release next July.

By the way, Lucasfilm president recently revealed that if they intend to do anything more in the Indiana Jones universe, it will be in television format.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will roll its way into theaters on June 30.
