Halo: Reach was released in 2010 yet it still remains one of the most played Halo titles. Halo Reach is a first-person shooter developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios, originally for the Xbox 360. While Halo: Reach is the fifth Halo game, it is actually a prequel to the first Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved, making it the first Halo game in the franchise narrative-wise.

Halo: Reach made a come back in 2019, as part of the Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One and Windows PC. In 2020 Halo: Reach became part of the Master Chief Collection for the Xbox Series X.

Gameplay-wise, Halo: Reach is a first-person shooter but switches to third-person when the player is using certain weapons and equipment. The game also switches to the third person when riding vehicles. Halo games are known for their campaign and deep lore, however, players enjoy the multiplayer aspect of the franchise the most.

What Are Credits (cR)?

The multiplayer aspect of Halo: Reach includes all of the usual modes from the previous titles. Horde Mode, the multiplayer mode introduced in Halo 3: ODST, is also part of the multiplayer of Halo: Reach.

Halo: Reach's ranking system is gained through credits (cR). Players can obtain these credits by playing through game modes like Forge, Firefight, and even the Campaign. However, Multiplayer modes have the highest cR rewards.

There is a daily credit limit that a player can gain - they cannot exceed 200,000 cR per day. This, combined with the table above, means that if a player plays the game for three months and hits the limits, they should reach the highest rank.

The higher the player's rank, the higher the number of credits they get from the Game Complete reward. Game Complete is based on the following statistics: rank, length of the session, and progression.

Some items are available when reaching certain ranks. For example, the GUNGNIR's final attachment is only available upon reaching the Mythic Rank. The Haunted attachment can be unlocked only upon reaching the Inheritor rank.

Firefight Arcade is one of the best modes to play in order to rank efficiently in Halo Reach. Firefight Arcade sessions should not last more than 15 minutes and the mode grants high credit payouts because of its guaranteed bonuses.

Since the games are fast-paced, players are going to rack up kills, chain streaks, and win medals. The reason for this is that Firefight Arcade provides unlimited rockets and sniper rifle ammo. It is generally considered to be the most consistent mode in terms of high credits earned.

Grifball matches are very short with a minimum of three rounds instead of five. There is a possibility that a Griffball match ends within three minutes if there is great teamwork on your side. Normally, in an equal match between teams, the matches last up to eight minutes.

Invasion is the riskiest way to gain cR. The lengths of sessions will vary greatly depending on the ability of the teams to defend capture points. Since this particular game mode is objective-based, it is difficult to hunt kills. Invasion rewards the most when a player can win the match and chain streaks, which is difficult to pull off. However, if a player is skilled enough and managed to win the session, the credits earned are the highest among all of the modes.
