Halo Infinite gets split-screen co-op, thanks to fans

Players have found a way to get split-screen co-op to work on Halo Infinite with support for up to four players.

Dropping split-screen co-op might be what spells doom for Halo Infinite.

343 Industries confirmed last week that it is abandoning the split-screen co-op feature on Halo Infinite. But, this hasn’t stopped fans from wanting it anyway. A few even wanted it so bad that they’ve added the feature to Halo Infinite themselves.

A few players took advantage of a menu glitch to work out how to make local co-op in Halo Infinite work. Surprisingly enough, it functions with minimal impact on the cutscenes, enemy spawns, and behavior.

The best part is that this is not an exclusive exploit – you can do it yourself. All you need to make local co-op work on Halo Infinite is an Xbox Series S/X as well as an online friend.

If you have both, simply follow our step-by-step guide (thanks @HaloCreation).

  • Navigate your way to the campaign menu and load a save file
  • Click Play and quickly move to your friend list
  • As soon as you see “loading map” appear on the screen, go to your friend list and join a friend
  • Leave Fireteam
  • Select “offline” under the server type in the custom lobby
  • You should be able to connect other controllers and profiles
  • Play away
343 should probably just hire the guys that made this possible to make split-screen co-op available on Halo Infinite.

Keep in mind that Halo Infinite doesn’t support split-screen co-op so 343 could patch away this glitch anytime. Until then, feel free to take advantage of this and schedule Halo night with your friends just like the good ol’ days.
