Only time will tell if the Winter Update will help bring Halo Infinite back to life.

343 Industries is finally adding campaign co-op and Forge mode to Halo Infinite close to a year and millions of players lost later.

According to 343, the game’s big winter update brings in features such as the game’s map editor, Forge mode, as well as campaign co-op and campaign mission replay. Unfortunately, couch co-op is still not available.

On top of the aforementioned additions, the patch also introduces a new multiplayer battle pass along with the requisite set of maps and play modes.

The latest Halo Infinite update is already available for both the Xbox Series X and the PC.

343 are already seeing encouraging signs from the beta of Halo Infinite’s Forge mode.

The brevity of Halo Infinite’s success post-launch underlines a big problem over at 343. It’s come to a point that Xbox Game Studios head, Matt Booty, has had to explain why it’s in such state. But, there’s no excusing what’s happened to Halo Infinite. 343 delayed it by over a year following feedback from the initial trailer. Although the COVID-19 pandemic had everyone hard, 343 could’ve just delayed the game again if it meant delivering a complete product. Instead, 343 has spent the better part of the past year learning the ropes, or so to speak, and it hasn’t been pretty.

Fans are now hoping that the arrival of Forge, though still in beta, will help bring back older players into the fold.

343 had this to say about the long-delayed Halo Infinite mode:

Forge is here to stay for good in Halo Infinite, all content will carry forwards and persist, and the mode will continue to see updates and support over time, evolving to add even more content to further inspire and empower creators.

Fans are still hoping for 343 to release a post-launch story DLC for Halo Infinite.

Even though split-screen is still off the table, campaign network co-op play is an excellent consolation as it lets up to four players link to play the story campaign of Halo Infinite. The mode supports crossplay while players will share progress and unlocks earned during co-op gameplay. In addition to this, players can replay missions after completing them, which will come in handy if in case you missed something on your first playthrough.

Finally, Halo Infinite will welcome two new multiplayer maps: Argyle and Covert One-Flag.
