Guillermo del Torro is adding another Netflix project to his resume with the premiere of his adaptation of the popular kid's story, Pinocchio.

The Academy Award-winning director is now set to debut Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio on Netflix on December 9. Del Torro's stop-motion film is a re-envisioning of the classic kid's tale of a wooden doll who dreamt of being a real boy.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio released a new trailer showcasing the world the director has made for the story. The tone is undoubtedly more mature but it still has that heart-warming message that we all know and love.

This isn't del Torro's first foray into classic children's stories. Pan's Labyrinth was universal acclaimed and subsequently won three Academy Awards. The movie was also a commercial success earning $84 million against a budget of just $19 million. However, del Torro's best work was arguably 2017's The Shape of Water. The movie received thirteen Academy Award nominations and won in four categories. The fantasy film won Best Picture and del Torro was awarded Best Director for his work in the movie.

Expectedly, the director is adding his own unique touch to the Pinocchio story written by Carlo Collodi. Del Torro is known for darker themes and art styles. It is safe to say that this is not the Pinocchio story that we grew up with or something similar to the Disney animated movie.
