Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sets new audience score record on Rotten Tomatoes

James Gunn's swan song might not have been a favorite among critics but audiences appear to have more positive things to say about it.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might be the lowest-rated film of the trilogy among critics but it's the highest in the entire MCU among fans.

If you can’t find a bad thing people are saying about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after it came out in theaters on May 5, you’re not alone.

James Gunn’s final MCU film, which critics allege is the worst film of Gunn’s trilogy, is a massive hit among fans – a rare feat at a time when the MCU is losing its stranglehold among audiences.

As per Rotten Tomatoes, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the third-most beloved MCU film of all time, ranking right below Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (98%) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (98%).

While critics and audiences alike have had it up to here with all the cinematic universes, an excellent film transcends hate as well as criticism.

Judging by everything we keep hearing about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn saved his best for the last.

So, what does this mean for the latest MCU film? Well, for starters, audiences decide if a film makes bank.

Fans say that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is one big goodbye from the start until the finish.

Ideally, a film should be a hit among critics and audiences. But, even if it gets a lukewarm reaction among critics yet draws in positive audience scores, you’d best bet that it’s in for a massive haul. We’re betting that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the highest-grossing film of the trilogy. It wouldn’t even be far-fetched to say that it could breach the billion-dollar mark, being just the second movie to do so this year after The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Coincidentally, The Super Mario Bros. Movie wasn’t as popular with critics as well, yet audiences begged to differ.

All things considered, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s critic and audience scores are excellent news after Ant-Man and the Wasp; Quantumania. Phase 5’s average is still a franchise low as a whole but it does do an excellent job priming audiences up for Secret Invasion and The Marvels, which are both premiering later this year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s success among audiences is a good sign for the MCU.

Speaking of the MCU, it’s a “good news, bad news” sort of weekend for the billion-dollar cinematic universe. Marvel Studios is currently dealing with the indefinite delay of the Blade reboot as well as the potential postponement of the Fantastic Four reboot.
