There are very few constants in gaming, and one of them is speculation about Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar Games and its decision to stay silent have kept fans engaged regarding the official release date of GTA 6. However, recent leaks and trusted sources have shed some light on this mystery wrapped in an enigma.

It all starts with Tom Henderson, who recently confirmed that the company’s plans to release GTA 6 anytime between 2024 and 2025 haven’t changed. His recent comments, which came as a reply to a curious fan, has reignited discussions. His history of accurate leaks, previously reporting on GTA 6’s modern-day Vice City setting and the introduction of both male and female protagonists, among others, have established him as a legitimate source. The fact that Henderson and his comments align with Take-Two Interactive’s timelines implies that fans should remain vigilant for the game to launch the next two years.

With that said, it’s possible Rockstar is still not sure about GTA 6′ final release schedule. Henderson, among others, insist that the FY2025 release window, a period that spans April 1,2024 and March 31, 2025, is still the priority. But, what if the developers aren’t ready to release GTA 6 by then? As developers need more time than initially thought to perfect GTA 6, Rockstar may prefer to internally delay it. If such a scenario were to unfold, this would require Take Two’s CEO, Zelnik, to update investors about any fiscal alterations well in advance. Should the timeline shift, GTA 6’s release date could shift to FY 2026 with a possible announcement a year before its final release date.

These speculations aren’t baseless. They’re rooted in Rockstar’s past behavior, notably the multiple delays for their latest AAA titles: Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Given the weight of expectations for GTA 6, Rockstar might prefer a timely release without further delays after the official announcement this time around. Hence, its silence.

Many firmly believe that Rockstar will stick to the FY25 release date because of Strauss Zelnick’s earlier comments. This influx in the company’s FY25 revenue inflow is why many believe GTA 6 is coming out by then. But, it’s possible that it’s due to a combination of multiple new releases as well as the results of preorders for GTA 6 coming before March 2025. If this happens, Rockstar might announce GTA 6 in FY25 before releasing it in FY26.

This release date would allow GTA 6 to take advantage of plenty of things. For one, the next-gen consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, will have firmly entrenched themselves as the leading platforms by then, with developers abandoning support for the PS4 and Xbox One. With the PS5, in particular, poised to have a record-setting run this year, the PS5 Pro possibly coming out in late 2024, and the revamped Xbox consoles hitting storeshelves sometime in between, GTA 6 will be welcomed by a fully next-gen market if it comes out in FY25 and, most especially, in FY26. The bulk of Take-Two’s revenue could then come flooding in during the latter, allowing Take-Two to enjoy two straight years of multi-billion annual revenues.

So, which is which? Is Tom Henderson’s sources correct? Or, should we believe LegacyKillaHD, an insider insist that GTA 6 won’t come out before 2024 ends?

In the midst of all of this, it’s crucial to remember Rockstar and its reputation for confidentiality. Henderson’s guarded statements might very well be to protect his inside sources or perhaps due to a collaborative relationship with Rockstar. After all, revealing too much could jeopardize either his insider connections or even incur legal ramifications, which is a definite possibility since this is Take-Two we’re talking about. The overarching sentiment remains that whoever is feeding information to insiders values the secrecy surrounding GTA 6.

Nevertheless, anticipation for GTA 6’s reveal and subsequent release remains high. Wouldn’t it be something if Rockstar tapped the Super Bowl for the announcement? This would undoubtedly cement the game’s release as a monumental moment in entertainment history.
