PlayStation fans are in for a treat this month. October’s PS Plus Extra lineup has been disclosed ahead of Sony’s official announcement.
Credible leaker Billbil-kun and the highly reliable Dealabs platform are at the heart of these leaks. Before we delve into the nitty-gritty, let’s remember to approach these revelations with a hint of caution, even though the sources have historically been right on the money.
At the forefront, making headlines, is Gotham Knights. This is particularly juicy news, considering its recent addition to Xbox Game Pass. However, let’s be clear: it’s not unheard of for a game to swing both ways. More importantly, Gotham Knights is in a lot better state than before, especially when compared to a time when one of its developers called out the “potato GPU” of the Xbox Series S. But, it’s not all about the Batfamily this month.
The leak reveals an ensemble of titles coming to PS Plus Extra October this month:
- Gotham Knights
- The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
- Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
- FAR: Changing Tides
- Gungrave G.O.R.E.
- Elite Dangerous
- Dead Island Definitive Edition
- Alien: Isolation
While The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes and Alien: Isolation are the only outright horror games in the list, it’s hard to disregard the nod to Halloween with zombie-charged Dead Island.
As for the other games, they’re all equally noteworthy. Elite Dangerous whisks players into the vast expanse of space in a detailed flight simulation. Disco Elysium is more than just a catchy name. This beloved isometric open-world RPG has garnered significant acclaim. FAR: Changing Tides showcases the beauty of indie adventures, where players navigate an apocalyptic world aboard their trusty boat. Gungrave G.O.R.E. is a third-person action shooter set to enhance the October gaming experience.
These are merely eight out of what’s likely going to be around 20 additions for the PS Plus Extra lineup this October. At least a dozen more titles are still to be confirmed, which means that the holiday season is in full swing over at PlayStation Studios.
Sony’s official announcement is coming on October 11, so we’ll find more about the exact lineup soon enough.
PlayStation Plus has been under a lot of fire lately, especially following the latest price increase. It didn’t help that this “more meaningful” subscription service hasn’t brought as much value in recent memory. The good news is the latest additions have been on point so far. Starting with this month’s PS Plus Essential offerings down to adding Sony Pictures Core as a bonus feature for PS Plus Premium subscribers, Sony is aware that it needs to bring more to the table to stay competitive.
It remains to be seen if the announcement of the rest of the PS Plus Extra/Premium lineup will happen as part of the long-rumored PlayStation Showcase.
