From the early days of spirit photography to the modern era of YouTube ghost hunting, the human fascination with the supernatural has never waned. In light of this, fans of the mystic will certainly be buzzing with excitement, all thanks to Sony's latest announcement.

During its recent State of Play showcase, Sony announced that Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will haunt the PS VR2 and Meta Quest platforms on October 26. If you remember the good old days when the Ghostbusters had us glued to our screens, proton packs at the ready, this game promises to bring back all that nostalgia and then some.

Players will dive headfirst into a world filled with puzzles, ghost traps, and, of course, the iconic Ghostbustin' gadgets. From remote turrets to ghost decoys, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is packed with tools that'll make every ghost hunter's heart race. Furthermore, the game isn't just about busting ghosts. It also delves deep into a new storyline, introducing new locations and even bringing in a new cast.

While the upcoming game is designed for a four-player co-op experience, solo players will not be left in the dark. With the aid of a "ghostly companion", the single players out there can also take on the Ghost Lord and his spooky minions.

Nathan Baseley, the Game Director, discussed some of the game's features, which include immersive lighting, eye-tracking, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers that will ensure players get a rich VR experience. Try to imagine the feeling of squeezing those adorable Mini-Pufts or the chill of a ghostly presence right behind you. As Baseley puts it, "There's nothing like wielding the iconic equipment together as you get up close and personal with angry ghosts."
