Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut revealed for the PS4 and PS5

July has barely even started and it seems like Sucker Punch wasn't going to let anyone else beat them to the punch this time around. While leakers and fans were able to find out the existence of the Director's Cut before it was announced, Sucker Punch made sure to be the first to detail everything that it contained.

Andrew Goldfarb, who is the Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that a Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is indeed coming.

A proper PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima is long overdue. However, the Iki Island expansion is something of a welcome surprise. Although there has been rumors about the Ghost of Ikishima expansion floating around lately, the official confirmation still hits different.

Here's a look at everything that's coming to Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut in video form:

According to the blog post, the new story sees Jin traveling to Tsushima's neighboring island, Iki, to investigate the presence of the Mongol army. However, what starts as an investigation quickly ends up with Jin finding himself "caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past."

In addition to new armor for Jin and his horse, additional mini-games, fighting techniques, enemies, environments, and more, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will also bring PS5-specific enhancements to the game.

PS5 owners will be able to enjoy faster loading times, 3D audio enhancements and DualSense support, as well as 4K resolution options and a 60 FPS mode. Not only that, but Sucker Punch guaranteed that all save files from the PS4 version will transfer to the PS5 upgrade without any problem, unlike Doom Eternal.

Basically, this means that older players can jump right back in and play through the new Iki Island content, which you'll be able to find at the start of Act 2. When will Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut release? Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will be priced differently on the PS4 and the PS5.

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will be available starting on August 20, 2021.

Players who already own Ghost of Tsushima on the PS4 can pre-order the Director's Cut upgrade for $19.99. However, if you want to upgrade to the PS5 version of the Director's Cut, you'll need to pay an additional $9.99. Meanwhile, upgrading straight from the original Ghost of Tsushima on the PS4 to the PS5 version of the Director's Cut will cost you $29.99.

Sucker Punch also made sure that no Ghost of Tsushima players were left out with the latest upgrade for the game.

In the announcement, Goldfarb clarified that "all players will receive a patch with some new photo mode updates, new accessibility options for controller remapping, as well as the option to enable a target lock-on during combat." He adds that players will soon be able to hide their quiver during gameplay too.

Having said that, it's good news that Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will be available on both the PS4 and the PS5.

Here's to hoping that Kojima Productions reconsiders making Death Stranding: Director's Cut exclusive to the PS5.
