In a stunning display of utter idiocy, a wanted fugitive was caught after evading the law for four months because he... went out to buy a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. There is an exceedingly long list of reasons why this is utter nonsense, and even a video of the arrest.

Clint Butler was convicted for crimes including robbery and firearms offences and was serving a 17-year sentence in Spring Hill Prison, Buckinghamshire. On November 28th, 2020 he somehow managed to escape the facility, indicating the possession of marginally more braincells than this latest stunt would have you believe he had, and managed to avoid law enforcement all this time.

Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, unnecessary travel is highly restricted, and police presence has typically been increased on streets in various cities throughout the world, the UK included. When Butler and a friend were on their way to purchase the latest installment in the award winning first person shooter franchise, they encountered a pair of officers and immediately turned around in the most suspicious way possible.

This raised more attention than simply going about their business would have, and the officers confronted the pair. After a brief line of questioning, the police noticed that something is off, at which point Butler concluded that assaulting the officers is the logical course of action. The entire altercation was captured on camera, and later posted online. Butler will be serving his original sentence with additional years for his escape and for assaulting an officer. I've come to get the new Call of Duty because I can't sit around in lockdown. Well, if he thought the lockdown measures felt like a prison, we'll see how much he prefers life behind bars again. Birmingham Police Superintendent Nick Rowe noted that the reasons for this "idiotic decision" will likely remain a "mystery", and boy is he right.
