FromSoftware is expanding, as evidenced by a recruitment drive as it prepares to work on several new projects. This is a welcome move following the commercial and critical successes of Elden Ring and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, signaling a bullish outlook for the future of the iconic developer.
IGN Japan has reported that FromSoftware is gearing up for a series of recruitment sessions in December, as it looks to bolster their teams across a wide array of departments. This strategic hiring spree is set to cater to the needs of multiple new projects. While the details of these projects remain shrouded in mystery, the studio has hinted at its intent to scale its operations, potentially self-publishing more games, a move that diverges from its traditional partnerships with Sony or Bandai Namco.
FromSoftware has further solidified its reputation in the gaming industry with a series of high-profile and commercially successful releases. ELDEN RING and ARMORED CORE VI, which launched in successive years, have both received critical acclaim, with the former achieving an impressive milestone of over 20 million copies sold. The studio’s successful track record has not only captivated a global audience but has also attracted significant investments from Sony and Tencent, providing a substantial financial boost that fuels their current growth trajectory.

The studio’s job openings span a broad spectrum of roles, from game planning and character design to public relations and quality control management, reflecting FromSoftware’s comprehensive approach to expanding its developmental capabilities. These positions are not only indicative of new projects in the pipeline but also suggest an enhancement of the studio’s operational infrastructure.
Amidst the speculation about future projects, FromSoftware fans are hopeful for sequels to beloved franchises like Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The studio has demonstrated its ability to innovate within established series while also venturing into new intellectual properties, as evidenced by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, in particular, are award-winning outings that many fans consider as two of the best games that FromSoftware have ever released. Their relative lack of sequels leaves a gaping hole in the industry that many others, like Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen, have desperately tried to fill.
To this day, Bloodborne remains one of the most requested FromSoftware games. If fans aren’t asking for a sequel, they are at least bargaining for Sony and FromSoftware to agree to port it to PC or give it an update for the PlayStation 5.
Unfortunately, despite all the clamor, FromSoftware remains mum about its future projects. The good news is that we’re at least aware about a couple of them, including an expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree. The studio’s recent activity, specifically the recruitment drive and the ongoing updates for Armored Core 6, point towards a future rich with potential. With The Game Awards looming on the horizon, fans are hopeful for a glimpse into the studio’s plans, possibly the release of the much-awaited Elden Ring expansion.
In the meantime, Soulsborne fans can look forward to next year’s PS5-exclusive, Rise of Ronin.
