The first free Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is smaller than most people expected

As the new Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs are free, it's available to everyone with a copy of the game. The two Rare/Iconic jackets are available in V's apartment as soon as players complete The Ride mission. Meanwhile, the new car, Archer Quartz, is available for purchase once you finish Ghost Town.

According to CDPR senior level designer Miles Toast, the small add-ons are intentional. Toast explains that Patch 1.3 is the biggest update applied to Cyberpunk 2077, so the DLCs were more of a taste of things to come.

Although CDPR has lost pretty much all the goodwill that it built over the years with the gaming community, Toast wasn't exactly lying. The studio had the same approach with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CDPR ended up releasing a total of 16 free DLC content for the game before launching massive expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

In the same live stream, senior quest designer Patrick Mills clarified that not all DLC will be free. He added that CDPR is planning larger add-ons in the future and that some will cost money. Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth playing now? It'll be interesting what else CDPR has up their proverbial sleeves.

If the earlier Cyberpunk 2077 DLC list leak is anything to go by, we can expect more free DLCs to hit one of the biggest busts in gaming history, before CDPR starts releasing paid expansions.

With that said, CDPR is on the right track to fulfilling all of its earlier promises. Although the free DLCs aren't game-changers, they do give returning players a reason to come back and check out what's new. Not to mention, Cyberpunk 2077 is mostly playable now. A few months ago, Sony decided to relist Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation Store. Right around the same time, Microsoft stopped offering refunds for Cyberpunk 2077.

With Patch 1.3 out and Cyberpunk 2077 now available for purchase again on consoles, CDPR can start changing the public reception.

Only time will tell if Cyberpunk 2077 can overcome its disastrous launch though.
