The global economy is currently on a downward spiral, and interestingly, this downturn appears to have extended its reach into the virtual realm of gaming.
According to an announcement from Epic Games, Fortnite V-Bucks and Fall Guys Show-Bucks, the in-game currencies for Fortnite and Fall Guys, are getting more expensive in certain regions. The price changes, effective July 13, are attributed to “economic factors like inflation and currency fluctuations” and will affect players in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico.
UK and Canadian players will need to brace themselves for higher prices, but there’s good news for gamers in Mexico, as they can look forward to slightly lower prices.

For now, only the Intrepid Engines Pack and Full Clip Pack are facing price increases in Fortnite. However, Epic Games also announced that the Dark Reflections, Magma Masters, Lava Legends, Summer Legends, and the Wish, Set, Match Quest Packs will also see similar price adjustments when they return in a future rotation.
Fortunately, the price of the Fortnite Crew subscription will remain unchanged.
Inflation has taken its toll on the gaming industry, causing major publishers to raise the prices of their recent titles from $60 to $70. This trend is likely to continue across all game releases in the coming days. However, there’s good news for fans of Overkill Software’s upcoming game Payday 3, as it will be available at a more affordable $40 price point.
