1996's Scream completely changed the teen slasher landscape, for the better. More than two decades and several sequels, as well as a TV series, later, a fifth Scream movie is finally coming and it will feature the return of Ghostface.
The excitement surrounding Scream 5 continues to grow
2011's Scream 4 was the last outing for the genre-defining horror film series. Unfortunately, it wasn't a huge financial success at the box office, making less than $100 million on a $40 million budget. Although it did hint at potential future installments, the death of the series' longtime director, Wes Craven, effectively put any plans of a sequel on hold. At least, that was until Paramount decided to bring in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to direct the fifth Scream movie.
Since then, Scream 5 has become one of the most mysterious and highly anticipated films in recent years. For one, fans know very little about the upcoming Scream film. All that most know so far is that it's going to have an R-rating. However, everything else has been intentionally left unknown.
