Video streaming giant, Netflix, and Polish games developer, CD Projekt Red, first teased the possibility of more Witcher news coming on July 9 on social media. But, now, we know that this isn't just some silly prank that both decided to pull on their audiences.
Netflix announced the first-ever WitcherCon on the fifth and final day of the first-ever Geeked Week.
The initial announcement came with a teaser that showed off Henry Cavill in full Geralt of Rivia costume from The Witcher series by Netflix side-by-side with Geralt from The Witcher video game series.
The upcoming "global virtual celebration of The Witcher" will reportedly include a behind-the-scenes look at the development of various media related to The Witcher. This includes everything from Netflix's series to the upcoming animated film, as well as the video games. It will also come with new reveals for the next season of the Netflix series, as well as "expert explorations" about the enormous lore behind The Witcher franchise.
Netflix's The Witcher is based on the novel of the same name by the Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski. CD Projekt Red's video game series is also based on the same novel. However, CDPR took a lot of liberties from its source material, which makes the video game series different from the novel and Netflix's series.
