Even before the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles were released, the gaming industry was preparing for a likely small but impactful shift in video game pricing.
With publishers and developers putting in extra work to make sure that most games today support eighth- and ninth-generation consoles, many companies are asking players to pay a premium for next-gen versions of games.
These days, most if not all next-gen titles are being sold for $70 instead of the usual $60 price point.
However, the next installments of Electronic Arts' popular sports sim games, FIFA and Madden NFL, won't simply cost more money for the next-gen versions. In addition, EA is locking their upgrades behind the more expensive editions of each respective game.
