Rockfish Games, the studio behind Everspace 2, turned some heads when it praised the Xbox Game Pass. According to the developers of the fast-paced open-world space shooter, the Game Pass isn't as detrimental to game sales as it's made out. Contrary to popular belief, the Game Pass might even contribute positively to the sales of Everspace 2 and included games, in general.

Michael Schade, the CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games, presented at Reboot Develop 2023 where he spoke positively about the Xbox Game Pass.

According to Schade, the company found out four things following the development and subsequent release of Everspace 2: Higher-priced early access titles attract more engaged players Wishlists no longer translate to sales, unlike before Steam seasonal sales are no longer as popular Sales increased as a result of being on the Game Pass instead of the other way around https://twitter.com/daveoshry/status/1650455688685010944

Everspace 2 is a direct sequel to the original Everspace game, which came out in 2017. However, unlike the rogue-like first game, Everspace 2 fully embraced its fast-paced and open-world space shooter concept. To challenge gamers, Everspace 2 features increasingly difficult sectors, weapons crafting, as well as ship customization options. It also has an overarching plot told through various NPCs in the game.
