Everspace 2 developer praises Xbox Game Pass for boosting sales

Everspace 2 was initially released as an Early Access title on Steam on January 18, 2021, before launching earlier this month on April 6 on the PC. A full version for the PS5 and the Xbox Series S/X will arrive in August.

Ultimately, one developer's support doesn't change the general view about the Game Pass. While Rockfish Games might've made bank from adding Everspace 2 to the Game Pass, this doesn't mean that every other developer is as lucky. It's best to treat each case separately and accept the reality that the subscription is risky for the studios involved. After all, the purpose of the Game Pass is to sustain itself, which might come at the expense of making a profit for the developers. It's unlike the subscription services offered by Nintendo and Sony, which are aimed at selling more consoles.

Speaking of the Game Pass, Microsoft recently expanded the popular streaming service to 40 new countries.
