Be honest, how many hours did it take you to beat Margin the Fell Omen, the first boss in Elden Ring? An hour? A dozen? Never? Don't worry, you're not alone. Several thousand Elden Ring players haven't gotten past Margit yet.
Having said that, speedrunners, who make a living out of making everyone else feel they're not good enough, are racing to the bottom to see who can finish Elden Ring the fastest.
Right now, Distortion2 is on top. A month ago, the Elden Ring speedrunning record was below an hour, then speedrunners kept on going at it until Distortion2 beat the game in 12 minutes last week. At the time, the Twitch streamer teased that they'd been working on a new method and it appears that this is working out well as Distortion2just posted a time of six minutes and 59 seconds.
From the looks of it, Distortion2 has perfected the method, The Zip, to travel out of Elden Ring's map and go anywhere. Using this technique, Distortion2 quickly found their way to The Four Belfries and the Crumbling Farum Azula. Eventually, Distortion2 met Maliketh two times before making their way through Leyndell, Ashen Capital, and the Elden Beast, after which, the game was over.
