One of the common criticisms about last year's Dune: Part One was that it felt like a movie that was setting up something much larger.
Although Denis Villeneuve did an excellent job of adapting the first half of the original novel's story, it became hard to deny the obvious. Still, this didn't stop Dune: Part One from setting a new HBO Max record and nearly topping the list of nominees at the 94th Academy Awards.
A little over half a year after Dune: Part One premiered in theaters and on HBO Max, Warner Bros. just confirmed that Part Two has started filming.
Here's the official synopsis of Dune: Part Two:
This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
