The first part of Dune recently arrived in theaters and on HBO Max, setting a pandemic record for Warner Bros. Whereas the studio's other films struggled to give audiences a reason to leave their homes and go to theaters, Dune's opening weekend box office take of $40 million proved that Warner Bros.' hybrid release slate for 2021 wasn't entirely wrong.
Nearly a week after Part One's release, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have officially announced that Part Two of the film is coming.
Is Dune 2 confirmed?
Legendary Pictures broke the news of the second half of the movie on Twitter on October 26.
One of the biggest criticisms of Dune was that the live-action adaptation of Frank Herbert's first novel appeared to be more concerned about setting things up for an eventual sequel. Although this issue wasn't enough to detract from an otherwise awesome experience, many felt like the director, Denis Villeneuve, was betting too much on the second part being greenlit.
