It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of Stranger Things, although weirder occurrences have happened. While the production has been paused, the director of the wildly popular Netflix series gave fans a promising update.

Shawn Levy says that Stranger Things 5 will be as big as most blockbuster films we watch on the silver screen. In an interview with Total Film, the director opened up about the upcoming season and shared what fans should expect from the Netflix series.

"There's no way to be contiguous with season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth," Levy said of the upcoming final season. "It's major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.

The update will certainly be exciting for fans of Stranger Things as we wait for season 5, which is probably a year or two away from release. Filming of the blockbuster TV series is currently on hold amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

What we do know is that Vecna will be returning in the final season following the dramatic ending to season 4 and Noah Schnapp's Will Byers will reportedly be one of the major characters of season 5. The anticipation for the final season is at an all-time high for fans of the show but it won't be easy seeing it all end.
