When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the reins at DC Studios last year, there was an understanding that things would change. The pair were tasked with leading the revamped DC Studios and building an interconnected world of big screen pictures, animations, and television series à la Marvel Studios - and of course, video games.
Now, it seems the pair are stepping up work on that aspect of their plan. A few days ago, a Twitter user and DC fan put his detective skills to good use. The fan, James Sigfield, came across a job posting by Monolith Productions, a video game company owned by Warner Bros. Games. The studio is behind the forthcoming Wonder Woman game and Warner's Middle Earth series.
The posting called for applications for the post of Executive Producer. From the description, whoever fills the role will oversee the development of "multiple projects." This sounds like an ordinary enough position with requirements that any video game studio would have for its executive producer.
However, under a section titled "The Nice to Haves," the Monolith Productions posting specifies "DC Franchise Knowledge" and this speaks volumes. It's unlikely that such knowledge will be necessary for developing unrelated content, right?
