Whoever will take up the mantle of Superman and wear their undies inside out will have big shoes to fill, which is probably why it's taking James Gunn so long to confirm who the next face of Superman is going to be. But, if we believe the recent reports, DC Studios is close to signing David Corenswet to be Clark Kent in Superman: Legacy.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the 29-year-old, last seen starring in 2022's Horror-Slasher film, Pearl, is currently the top choice to play Superman in the DC Universe.

The news comes after we caught wind of another rumor that DC Studios is close to signing a certain award-winning actress for the lead role of Lois Lane.

Furthermore, THR notes that Nicholas Hoult, who was once in the running for Batman before losing to Robert Pattinson, is the frontrunner to play Lex Luther.

At just 29 years old, Corenswet is young enough to carry on and become one of the pillars of the DCU for years to come if not decades. Henry Cavill was around the same age when he first starred as the iconic superhero in 2013's Man of Steel. A lot of other Superman actors like Dean Cain and Brandon Routh were just as young as well when they first played Superman on-screen.
