After being in development for nearly a decade, Cyberpunk 2077's marketing efforts were at an all-time high during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many expected Cyberpunk 2077 as the next big AAA title that would spawn a franchise for CD Projekt RED, as fans looked forward to playing through the first-person cyberpunk title in the midst of the world's chaotic state. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 never was (and still isn't) the game it was billed to be.

Several game-breaking bugs and issues plagued Cyberpunk 2077 for months that ultimately led to the game being delisted from both the Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store.

With that said, recent rumors suggested that CD Projekt RED was preparing to release Cyberpunk 2077 to Xbox Game Pass. Although this would have been an awesome acquisition on Microsoft's part, it appears that this speculation was false, with someone from CDPR now debunking the rumors.
