Over a year after skirting around the future of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED has made it official: Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a sequel.
Here's what CDPR said in the official announcement: Orion is a codename for our next Cyberpunk game, which will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe. Cyberpunk 2077 threw a monkey wrench into CD Projekt RED's plans. It's taken the studio a huge chunk of the past two years to recover. Thankfully, with a dash of perseverance, a lot of luck, and a healthy dose of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally at a place where it's well-deserving of a sequel.
In recent months, Cyberpunk 2077 has topped the player count of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (again), sold more than 20 million copies, got official mod support, and a new DLC.
