An overseas theatrical ban might prevent Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from blowing up as big as it should.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to controversies. Despite Disney's best efforts to make sure that the superhero movies are inclusive, adding LGBTQ+ characters in recent outings hasn't been without consequence. For example, theaters in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar, banned Eternals for depicting a same-sex relationship on-screen.

Fast forward to May, and it appears that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will follow suit.

claims that Egypt, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia have banned the second Doctor Strange film from screening in theaters. It's not yet confirmed if the movie won't make it to box offices in Qatar well, but it is presumed that the ban extends to the said country as well.
