The release of the highly anticipated Cities: Skylines 2 has been pushed back for consoles. Players who want to get their hands on the city-building simulator will have to get the game on PC for now. However, gamers with older PCs may find the system requirements to be a bit high.

Colossal Order has announced that it is delaying the release of the much-awaited sequel to Cities: Skylines for consoles to spring 2024. The studio, along with publisher Paradox Interactive, initially planned a simultaneous launch on next month. According to Colossal Order, the delay allows the studio to reach its quality targets for the game.

“We are hard at work getting the game ready for our release on October 24th,” Colossal Order said in a statement. But, the studio explains that it realized that it needed “more time to reach the quality targets” it has set, adding that the delay lets the studio “focus on matching the quality and performance across all platforms.”

Paradox Interactive will reportedly be automatically refunding all pre-orders on consoles with no action needed. It may take a few weeks before the refunds take effect, the published said. Retailers will be handling the refund process for physical copies of the game.

The console versions of the original Cities: Skylines worked well on consoles when it was released. However, similar to the sequel, the previous version on consoles was launched after the PC version came out.

For PC players, Colossal Order has also revealed the system requirements for the city-building simulator. The recommended specs are a bit on the high-end side given the larger scale of the upcoming sequel, requiring fairly new hardware and a pretty expensive GPU.
