, CD Projekt RED confirmed that it was going to release next-gen upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt later this year. However, it appears that CDPR's plans have changed since. According to CDPR's most recent announcement, the next-gen upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 have been delayed to 2022.
Why did CDPR delay the next-gen versions of Witcher 3 and CP2077?
CD Projekt confirmed the delay in an investor update. Unfortunately, the company did not provide any reason behind the delay of both next-gen upgrades. Instead, CDPR ended its statement by saying that it wanted to "make it right", whatever that means.
Interestingly enough, the statement comes just a day after The Witcher 3's next-gen upgrade was supposed to release. A PEGI listing for The Witcher 3 confirmed that the 2015 title should have been released on October 19, 2021, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
