Cyberpunk 2077 is in a good position right now and it's due in large part to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Thanks to the success of the anime prequel on Netflix, CD Projekt RED announced the first and only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 with little to no issues. Unfortunately, CDPR just confirmed that it's not coming back to Edgerunners anytime soon.

According to a Famitsu interview with CD Projekt Red's Satoru Honma (translation by VGC), Edgerunners was "planned as a standalone work."

The good news here is that plans change.

CDPR will have to be foolish not to adjust its roadmap. Honma even mentioned his desire to "work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future" and it's because of the love fans showed Edgerunners. But, at the same time, we understand why CDPR wants to take it easy. The company can't afford to spread itself too thin and work on too many important projects at the same time. It probably won't be able to survive another stock dip resulting from a failed product.
