Who would have thought that a game released two years ago would finally meet the sales quota that was probably expected during its launch time? With the recent surge of players joining the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, mainly thanks to the release of the hit Netflix series set in the same universe, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to achieve new milestones every other day.

CD Projekt Red recently shared a post on Twitter, thanking fans and revealing that the game has sold an astonishing 20 million copies since its release. In addition to the anime, the game has also received some major title updates fixing the majority of the issues that caused the game's demise in the first place.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is still far from being included amongst giants such as GTA 5 and Minecraft, 20 million copies sold is still remarkable, especially if you consider the rocky launch Cyberpunk 2077 had. Another impressive thing to note is that the game sold 20 million copies in just two years, despite all the bugs and negative reviews it received early on.

For comparison, Stardew Valley, one of the most popular games, sold 20 million copies in about six years. Additionally, one of the best open-world games, The Witcher 3 by CD Projekt Red, took almost four years to reach the same sales numbers. The game has been doing so well that even the official investor's relation account of CD Projekt Red couldn't resist a celebratory tweet.
