With just a little over two weeks to go until the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and the start of a new era in Call of Duty, it is understandable that hype is reaching unprecedented levels.

That said, two weeks is two weeks, and while releasing a "launch trailer" so early may seem a bit premature, it has been a trend to do so in the video game industry for years now. In any case... new footage!

Clocking in at a brief one minute, the trailer is short and snappy, reusing some footage from previous trailers, especially the one with Reagan and the team in the meeting room. Still, we do get some quick glimpses at new characters, locations and story beats.

Perseus himself, the Soviet double agent and implied-but-almost-certainly-actually-not antagonist of the game, isn't mentioned outright, only alluded to by talk of a conspiracy that threatens to wipe out half of Europe. This is Call of Duty, after all, you've got to one-up the previous installment in terms of explosions.

The trailer needs more zombies, though.

Some of the locations we see include East Germany, Angola, the Black Sea and brief snippets of what may be a Vietnam flashback sequence - the Vietnam War ended in 1975 and the game takes place in 1981 - as well as some other hard to place locations without any blatant defining traits.
