When Brock Lesnar left WWE in 2004 to pursue a career in the NFL, he surprised a lot of wrestling fans. However, after being cut from the Minnesota Vikings team during the preseason and wrestling for NJPW in Japan, Lesnar tried to join the growing wrestling brand TNA in 2007, a move that would have seen him reunite with his former WWE rival, Kurt Angle.
Currently signed to WWE as a "free agent," Lesnar's greatest rivalry during the Ruthless Aggression Era was against Kurt Angle, producing one of the best wrestling matches when Kurt Angle defended the WWE title against Brock Lesnar in the Smackdown Iron Man Match.
So, it came as no surprise when Kurt Angle revealed on his podcast, the Kurt Angle Show, that Brock wanted to join him in TNA, saying:
Brock calls me. He is not in the WWE. He says, 'Listen, man. Can you get me in TNA? I probably shouldn't even be saying this now. But you know what? Brock doesn't care. He said, 'Hey, what are you making?' And I said what I was making. He said, 'If you can get me that, I'll come.' I approached TNA, and they said, 'No, we're not going to give him that kind of money.'
