Nearly four years after Season 5 hit Netflix and provoked the thoughts of its audiences, Black Mirror is returning for its sixth season.
Netflix confirmed the return of Charlie Brooker’s multi-award-winning series with a tease on Twitter before it dropped the official trailer a day later and confirmed when Black Mirror is returning to the streaming giant.
According to the announcement, Black Mirror Season 6 will premiere on Netflix in June.
One of the things that stood out from the trailer is the ensemble cast of guest stars, which includes the following:
- Aaron Paul
- Anjana Vasan
- Annie Murphy
- Auden Thornton
- Ben Barnes
- Clara Rugaard
- Daniel Portman
- Danny Ramirez
- Himesh Patel
- John Hannah
- Josh Hartnett
- Kate Mara
- Michael Cera
- Monica Dolan
- Myha’la Herrold
- Paapa Essiedu
- Rob Delaney
- Rory Culkin
- Salma Hayek Pinault
- Samuel Blenkin
- Zazie Beetz.
The four-year-wait might have been longer than what most fans wanted, but it only served to help heighten the excitement for Season 6. We’re sure that the showrunner will, once again, deliver another season of mind-bending storytelling that will leave viewers thinking critically and asking all the right questions.
Black Mirror Season 6 marks the first since Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones stepped down from their posts in House of the Tomorrow. Their departure from the show’s former production initially caused concerns about rights issues. Somehow, Brooker and Jones struck a deal with Netflix to let them work on Season 6 with their new production company, Broke and Bones.
Ultimately, we still don’t know what Black Mirror will bring us in Season 6. Thankfully, the first trailer gives audiences enough to tide them over and reassure fans that Brooker and Jones still haven’t lost their touch. However, we can’t help but wonder if Black Mirror can still surprise audiences after all this time. Keep in mind, so much has happened since Season 5 aired in 2019. The world has seen plenty of things that looked like they came straight out of a Black Mirror episode, so the series might no longer shock audiences as much as before.
We’ll likely find out in the next few weeks when exactly in June the sixth season of Black Mirror will premiere.
