How many DualSense controllers does it take to save Gaia and the Lifestream from the evil crutches of Sephiroth? If you ask Square Enix, the answer is "65."

As part of its latest marketing stunt for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which comes out on the PlayStation 5 on February 29, Square Enix opted for a traditional ad route, paying for a billboard in the UK. Since this is Square we're talking about, it couldn't stop itself from putting a unique twist to it. Instead of a straightforward image for FF7 Rebirth, it put an appropriately-sized Buster Sword on the back of Cloud Strife. But that's not all! Inside the sword are 65 DualSense controllers, two of which are in Cobalt Blue.

It definitely appears as if the marketing gloves are off now for Square Enix following the review embargo lifting on February 22.

Square Enix has had a reputation for over-the-top marketing stunts for Final Fantasy in recent years. Last year, it teamed up with the Tower of London and the Royal Armouries to display the sword of the Final Fantasy 16 protagonist, Clive, for an entire month. The best part is that because FF16 takes inspiration from medieval Britain, the Invictus, a Rosefield family heirloom passed down for generations, fit right in the company of weapons and armory once worn and owned by royalty.
