Bethesda redeems itself with the Starfield Chronomark Watch

Bethesda doesn't drop the ball often, but after the disaster that was Fallout 76 at launch, it's more than making up for it with Starfield.

With the Starfield Chronomark Watch, Bethesda just erased all the bitter memories fans have of Fallout 76's loot bag.

In the vast cosmos of video game collectibles, it’s rare to find an item that’s as functional as it is iconic. Enter Bethesda’s newest starlit offering – the Starfield Chronomark Smartwatch, part of the Constellation Edition. A piece that promises a freebie that offers the joy of owning an emblematic item from a beloved game and also the utility of day-to-day life.

The unfortunate stigma attached to collectibles is rooted in very understandable and, unfortunately, common, previous disappointments. Some collectors lament previous purchases, such as the Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Inquisitor’s Edition, where an investment led to trinkets that lacked substance, or that time Electronic Arts sold Mass Effect Andromeda Collector’s Edition that came with tons of freebies save for a digital code or copy of the game itself?

The standout feature of the Constellation Edition is, without a doubt, the Chronomark Smartwatch. While many gamers are familiar with the standard suite of smartwatch capabilities – pedometer, smartphone notification display, and music controls, to name a few – this watch takes things a notch higher, deep into outer space.

It’s clear that Bethesda is pouring their all to make sure that Starfield goes right.

Kidding aside, not only does the Starfield Chronomark Watch bring with it utility, but it also boasts synchroneity with the game. It features an understated design but stands out well enough to make the wearer feel they own a special timepiece. It’s this seamless blend of utility and geek chic that makes the Chronomark a unique piece of tech-fashion.

Furthermore, Bethesda isn’t just offering a watch; they’re promising a bridge between reality and the Starfield universe. Apparently, the Smartwatch lets you monitor in-game environmental status in real-life, including elements like toxicity, oxygen, and temperature. The immersion this creates is unparallel. It’s no longer just about playing a game; it’s about living in it. This might happen quite literally based on what we’ve heard about the length of Starfield from Pete Hines and Phil Spencer, who, by the way, have sunk hundreds of hours into the game on their lonesome after being the first to board last month

Unboxing the watch should make for a jaw-dropping experience. There’s no way Bethesda didn’t put much thought in its presentation. We’re already hearing good things about how it feels to open the watch box, which solidifies its place as a premium collector’s item. The watch’s design, with its 1970s-influenced palette and detailed features, feels right out of the Starfield universe. Produced by The Wand Company, known for their meticulous craftsmanship, the Chronomark promises durability and functionality.

It remains to be seen just how much Starfield will sell at launch but we don’t think that it will be a small number.

The Starfield Chronomark isn’t just a tribute to the game, it’s a symbol of Bethesda’s commitment to delivering quality. After the Fallout 76 bag debacle, the company seems to be keen on leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the Starfield Constellation edition stands out. This dedication is evident in their collaboration with The Wand Company, a firm that’s celebrated for its high-quality work, including the Fallout 76 Pip-Boy and a range of Pokeballs, among several others.

The Constellation Edition, retailing at $299.99 USD, isn’t merely about the watch, of course. Buyers also get early access to Starfield, a steelbook, a patch, and more. Breaking down the cost makes it clear: the value proposition, for many, is more than reasonable. All over the world, the price difference between the Constellation edition and the premium game alone suggests that the watch and its accompanying items are well worth the cost, especially when one considers that similar smartwatches, without any game-related bonuses, typically retail for around the same price.

For fans of the franchise and newcomers alike, Bethesda’s Starfield Constellation edition offers a chance to own a piece of gaming history, a functional memento of an anticipated universe.

More than the sales, Starfield will be huge for the morale of every studio under the Microsoft Gaming umbrella.

Beyond the game, the Chronomark watch serves as a testimony to what happens when passion meets craftsmanship.

Whether worn to the office, flaunted among friends, or simply used during game sessions, the Starfield Chronomark is more than just a collector’s item – it’s an experience.

Unfortunately, there’s no way you’d be able to order one now without a ridiculous mark-up. But, hey, at least this should tell you to trust Bethesda the next time around, which should be anywhere between next month and within the next decade with The Elder Scrolls VI next on the studio’s docket

If it’s any consolation, you can wrap your Xbox Series X in Starfield later this year.

Starfield will be out on September 6.

Speaking of the Xbox Series X, something tells us that the list of games that will “discriminate” between the Xbox Series S and X owners will grow after Baldur’s Gate 3 and NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS.
