Warner Bros. Discovery canceled the $90 million Batgirl movie while it was in the middle of post-production despite it receiving similar test screening scores to Black Adam, which went on to premiere in theaters last October.
Employees reportedly held "funeral screenings" to pay tribute to the film. But, aside from that, we haven't really heard much about the Batgirl movie and those involved in it, until now. Apparently, the directors of the project are still open to working with Warner Bros. Discovery and the DC Universe with a meeting with the new DC co-head, James Gunn, already in the books.
According to an interview between The Hollywood Reporter and the directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, The Suicide Squad director reached out to them after the cancelation of Batgirl and offered his support. After his promotion, Arbi and Fallah claim that the "meetings are in the books." Furthermore, the directors revealed that they haven't shut their doors on another project in the DCU, "on the condition that the movie comes out."
