Barbie continues to sizzle at the box office and it looks like Warner is planning on extending the movie's theatrical run. As a side effect of this, fans of the blockbuster will have to wait a little while longer before the film becomes available online.
Gran Turismo raced to the top of the box office charts last weekend but the true winner was Greta Gerwig's critically acclaimed fantasy comedy. With last weekend's ticket sales, Barbie has edged out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 as Warner Bros.' highest-grossing film ever with $1.342 billion. The Margot Robbie-led movie now sits at 17th place on the all-time highest-grossing films list.
As Barbie continues to attract viewers to cinemas, the online premiere of the movie has reportedly been delayed. As per WhenToStream, Barbie's premium video-on-demand release date has been pushed back by a week.
The film was originally scheduled to debut online on September 5 and will now be available for purchase on digital storefronts on September 12. Warner Bros may be thinking of extending Barbie's theatrical run by a week as the film is still doing really well in cinemas worldwide.
